Re: London Stadium 60k?
you think the government are going to waste money every year when there's a perfectly good athletics stadium sitting idle in Birmingham?

Ed Warner's point was I think an attempt to prevent Birmingham getting the nod, because it would have ensured they'd stay at the OS. I think that far less likely now.

Well if Ed Warner has his way it will be held at the Cesspit....

The Stadium will be even cheaper to buy now as Newham don't want the money they loaned back!

I support Birmingham athletics!

Oops, sorry.

KL is the only other city that can bid now, but apparently they want it in 2026.

Leaves the path clear for athletics to fuck off up to Birmingham from 2023.

Birmingham just confirmed winners of 2022.

In other news, if Birmingham get the Commonwealth Games in 2022, and increase the capacity of their athletic stadium to 40k, we might get to knock down the OS

Another nightmare for the 2022 season

Even worse if we are in the championship!

It is 66K. 22K August 2017, 22K August 2018 and 22K August 2019. I have seen the e-mail confirming it!!!!

It seems the whole deal has been done with the intention of who can get away with what, we clearly seem to have come off better at the start but it seems at a cost of little flexibility going forward unless we pay big for it.

The news today I read that athletics can stage a major event there every five years and plan to host the 2022 European Championships there kind of shows the deal long term isn't exactly all geared towards us as the club would have us believe.

Amen to that. 108 stairs to get a pint and have sarge jr look for his name on the founders wall got a bit much after a while.

A pop up bar on the upper tiers should be easy enough.

Re: London Stadium 60k?
LS185 vastly under-estimated the stewarding and policing costs they'd have to incur. They thought they could get away with novices, trainees and unpaid volunteers - hence the fuck-ups for the first part of the season. When they had to pay going rates for professionals and also pay the police their costs rose considerably. The only way LS185 will agree to request the increase from the SAG to 60,000 is for the club to pay a hefty fee to cover additional stewarding costs and extra to try and claw back some of the existing costs.

Re: London Stadium 60k?
they cant ask for much as all those extra seats would be in the 300 quid bracket, so it's only £2.7 mil a year in ticket sales and a bit more on top from food and drink.

Re: London Stadium 60k?
I think they're trying to get us to cough up more cash per year before they allow an increase.

Gavros
If concourse overcrowding is an issue why don't they have the turnstiles further out, on the bridges, as they do for the athletics and allow people and food / drink outlets to be outside as with the athletics... could keep away fans within the concourse as now so that wouldn't be an issue.

Gavros 1:14 Wed Sep 6
Re: London Stadium 60k?
Its the Stadium Advisory Group thats keeping it at 57k. I seriously do not know why theyre still restricting it. There was hardly any trouble after they made the changes following the Chelsea game early last season. Perhaps someone on the SAB might be able to answer.

Re: London Stadium 60k?
Didn't seem to bother any when there were 80k in there for the Olympics.

All will be solved soon when the Athletics move to Birmingham's 40k stadium and the 2bobs buy up the LS knock it down and rebuild it into a proper footie stadium.

MikeHammer 12:46 Wed Sep 6
Re: London Stadium 60k?
Gavros: The way around the crowding on the concourse at half-time would be to have refreshments served in Upper Tiers to avoid people having to come down all those bloody stairs ! (like what happens in most stadia)

Re: London Stadium 60k?
Not their fault but last season it was supposed to increase to 60k after a couple of months then 66k for this season according to Gold.
Yet another let down.

ludo21 12:41 Wed Sep 6
Re: London Stadium 60k?
So is it our choice to keep it at 57K or are we at 60k for this season?

I would have thought Brady would have been very keen to point score by having a larger capacity than the Emirates and WHL next season?
